Hi, I just wanted to ask if it's normal that my tortoise is always sleeping n she doesn't eat well, she also doesn't mouve, her eyes are always closed, her old owner said that it's bc they sleep for 3 months, n that bc she's young, she doesn't eat much, but I gotta make sure cause I can't find answers in Google

Thank you so much. This is so helpful. Currently my sulcata isn't eating and almost always sleeping. There were weeks that I was not able to bring him/her outside for sunlight and that's when he/ she became "lazy". But I'm worried because the shell seemed to have softened and there's a black "patch" in its chest. 😢 Now, I always put him/her outside for a walk and a little sunshine and then soak in water for few minutes. Hope he gets better after few days.

So I got a herman tortoise December 20th it’s now January 16th almost a month. He is a very active tortoise. I take him out of his enclosure and let him roam on the floor he loves to do that. I feed him romaine lettuce everyday. He has a UVB and a heat lamp but even though I give him lettuce everyday he doesn’t want to eat it everyday. I’ve soaked him everyday and he barely poops. I clean out his substrate by sifting through it and I keep his enclosure clean and tidy. Am I doing something wrong? Herman has me very concerned. He does eat a lot when he is ready to eat but he doesn’t poop a lot. Am I dealing with blockage? Is there anything I can do to help him.

She's beautiful !!!❤❤ I have videos from other people that own tortoises, and I'm noticing that like us humans, they have their own unique personalities and their shells and faces are distinct. I guess that's why they're so loved and adored !!❤❤🤗🥰 I wish I could get one but I'm on a fixed income and I'm up in age. I'm well aware that it could out-live me and If something happened to me, I'd be worried about who would take care of it and give it the love that it deserves, so I'll love them vicariously through owners like you !!! 🥰🥰🥰❤❤🐢 Just one suggestion ; buy a FRESH toothbrush so that she doesn't get any illnesses that may transfer from a used brush. A kid's toothbrush is usually what other tortoise parents use.

I was bathing my tortoise today and the bottom of his shell was not soft overall but the underside near his tail was “bending” when I was brushing it. Is that a sign of shell rot too? If I use iodine to clean it do I need to dilute it? Please help! My nearest reptile vet is over 7hrs away
